The Museum of the Red River is hosting the 12th Seven State Biennial exhibition. This juried competition of contemporary works from artists working in Oklahoma and the six surrounding states, is organized in partnership with the Nesbitt Gallery of USAO (University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, in Chickasha) and the Goddard Center (Ardmore). “This year’s competition was as fierce as it has ever been, with 44 pieces created by 33 artists being chosen for the exhibition. This show contains many forms of painting, countless ways of utilizing mixed media, painstaking works of pottery, fused glass, steam-punk sculpture, incredible collage constructions, and so much more” stated Layne Thrift, Director of Nesbitt Gallery. “The selected works exemplify a broad range of artistic approaches and material practices, from meticulous representation and narrative clarity to experimental abstraction and innovative uses of process and form” noted this year’s juror, art professor Von Venhuizen of Texas Tech University.
